Music

Anyone who knows me knows that I love music. Music is probably one of the most important things in life to me. I don't necessarily possess any musical talent, but I do harbor a great appreciation for music and the feelings and emotions it can create. I like just about every genre of music there is; from classical to punk rock, from opera to classic rock, from country to new wave, from glam rock to raggae. I even like Disco if the mood is right! I am particularly hip to blues, from Delta Blues to Blues Rock. One of my favorite artists is Chris Isaak. With the exception of maybe Bob Marley, I have more Chris Isaak music on my MP3 player than any other musician. He is music Americana! He is the music love child of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. So you can see why I was so excited to go see a double billing show that included Blues Traveler and Chris Isaak this last weekend at Spring Mobile Park in Salt Lake City. What an amazing show. Music Rocks! In every way! Here are a few pics of the show.

In my opinion, John Popper IS Blues Traveler.
This guy can wail on the mouth organ!
Chalk up a victory for us fat guys!
I loved watching Tad Kinchla on bass. I have always had a love for the bass.
Sarah was stoked to hear the band round out their set with "Hook". One of her favorite songs.
Then came the headliner, Chris Isaak.
You can hear his idols, Presley, Lewis, Orbison and Cash in every song.
Here he is staring right at Sarah. Hands off, Chris. She's mine!
There aren't many crooners out there, but this cat knows how to woo the ladies!
He's "The Original All American Boy"

Here he is playing his one of a kind white Gibson
Rockin' it, Elvis style. The King would be proud.
Here is playing with Rowland Salley, bassist.
They did six covers from Orbison, Cash, Lewis, Perkins and Presley. They are releasing an album in September of all covers recorded in the Sun Records Studio. The same studio these legends recorded in. Should be a good one.
For the encore, he donned the shiny glass suit.
Seriously a phenomenal show.

If you have the chance, you should see the show. He is not just a great musician, he is a showman.

That's all folks. See you next time. I hope there is a next time.

What I Did On Summer Vacation (So Far). Written By: The Lou

I know my Dad has already told you about many of the things I have done so far this Summer, such as the family reunion at the beach!
Or camping with Uncle Scott and Aunt Cynthia!
Or visiting Yosemite National Park with my Mom and Dad
Or going on hikes on Dad's shoulders
Or swimming with Mommy at Don Pedro Lake.
But I did so much more since all that too! For instance, I celebrated the birth of our nation.
I am a little afraid of fireworks, or at least I am afraid of handling them myself. I really enjoy watching them from a distance though.
I got to sit on Grandma Leslie's lap through the entire Cul-de-Sac of Fire.
I live in the greatest neighborhood ever! At the celebrations this year, Torch from The Blaze came!
I got his autograph!
This summer has been weird weather-wise. With all the rain we are getting, it feels like we are living in the Northwest!
It was still warm enough for popsicles though! I liked sharing with Aunt Candace.
I laid out too! I am getting tan!
Being one of the smallest in the neighborhood has it's perks. Everyone looks out for me like Mitchell who helped me on the bouncy slide.
I have so many good friends to look up to in Meadowbrook.
This Independence Day I learned a lot about patriotism and what it means to love America.
Mom helped decorate the tricycle that Grandma Leslie gave me and I was in a bike parade!
Here we are ready to go! It was fun! They played the song "Kids in America" while we rode around. I won the prize for the best decorations!
I have spent a lot of time with Grandma Leslie this Summer. I hope she is not getting tired of me!
I also learned from some of the older girls how to present the flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance.
I love The Fourth Of July!
This Summer I also learned how to use the big girl potty! I am sure one day I will be upset with my Dad for posting this pic.
As a reward I got Nerds candy. I called my Dad at work to tell him of the good news!
I have watched a lot of "Caillou" this Summer too!
I went to a car show with Mom, Dad, the Tubbs and the Corbridges. Dad really misses taking the Mustang to the shows.
I rode a Buzz Lightyear ride while I was at the car show.
This Summer I spent a lot of time with my cousins like at the movies when we went to see "Cars 2"!
Mommy and I got there first and waited in line
I have been told I am a cutie, but Mom sure makes me even more cute by putting me in this "Cars" t-shirt and giving me checkered flag ribbons.
I LOVE SUMMER
I had to wait for a while to see the movie, but not as long as we had to wait for Summer to get to Utah!
All my cousins came over to play on my new playset that I got this Summer
We liked to go up the slide backwards and then slide down together in a big heap. Daddy was surprised nobody got hurt.
My cousins, Lexi and Jasmine came over to slide on the slip and slide with me.
This Summer we got to eat outside on my picnic table below my swingset.
My cousin Lexi taught me how to use the swings in a different way.
This Summer took so long to get here, but now that it is here, I am enjoying the water!
Yummy Water!
Lexi and I have had fun playing together this Summer. I hope to see her some more. Too bad she lives way in the boonies.
This Summer my Mommy enrolled me in official swimming lessons!
My instructor was very nice. I learned to float without my floaties and how to kick.
My favorite cousin is Jakey and he also took swimming lessons with me.
Summer is hot so I get to swim more!
I love to swim!
I want to be a swimmer like Caitlin.
Summertime with my buddy, Jakey.
Yes!

This Summer we have spent a lot of our weekends up at our cabin.
The Buck N' Beaver Lodge is a fun place for our family and friends.
One Summer weekend, me and my cousins, Jakey, Cole and Elijah, helped Dad and Uncle Duane. Daddy called us his little helper Beavers!
We collected as much wood as we could and made five big piles. I learned this Summer that work can be fun and rewarding.
Summertime in TimberLakes Estates is so pretty!
My favorite thing to do in the Summer time with Daddy is riding the ATVs or as I call them AVTs.

This Summer we have had a lot of bar-b-ques. My Mommy got my Daddy a smoker so that has been tasty too!
Daddy widdled me this sharp stick this Summer. It may not have been his wisest decision.
But I enjoyed sitting with him on the porch. I am glad that Summertime still has a couple more months!
