Sarah lives for Halloween. Me? Not so much. After 13 years, we have found the happy medium wherein I dress up with hardly having to dress up and thus support her love for the holiday by being a participant on the most minimum of effort, but an effort nonetheless. The one part of the holiday I can get behind is Sarah's made up holiday of "Pumpkin Day. Pumpkin Day is typically October 1st and involves going to a pumpkin patch or grocery store to select our pumpkins. I have indulged her in this holiday as long as I have known her, but it became easier once we had Leah and now Dax. It is a fun tradition for our family. This year was no exception as we visited "Pa's Pumpkin Patch" and brought Grandma along for the ride. The one exception to the tradition this year was the date. On October 1st, Sarah took the rugrats to a pumpkin patch to play, but I was accompanying my Dad to his chemo treatment, so I was unable to go. We delayed the picking out of the pumpkins until my return. Below are a few photos with not much narration. Happy Pumpkin Day!
Leah and Dax playing in the corn box.
Dax loved sitting in the wheelbarrow
My little pot belly pig petting a spotted pot belly pig.
Dax loves everything about Pumpkin Day. Even sitting on a tractor.
Or in a handcart.
Leah was selected to bring "Buddy the Bear", her classroom mascot bear, home with her this weekend. Here she is with Buddy, picking out a pumpkin.
Dax is all boy and likes to throw things and/or destroy things. He grabbed every pumpkin he could muscle and threw it to the ground. It was a work out chasing him through this maze just to prevent him from doing so.
Dax enjoyed the hay bale maze and found a tunneled shortcut
Happy Pumpkin Day!!!
It's hard to see Dax's head and hands, but the kids wanted to help me move the pumpkins we selected. They were more of a speed bump than help, but it was fun to see them do it.
These two love each other so much.
They always have to be doing what the other is doing. In this case, sitting in a wheelbarrow.
My cute little October girl
Here is Leah with the white pumpkin that she selected.
Here is my pumpkin! Isn't she a beaut?!
Grandma went for some artsy fartsy pastel colored pumpkin. Both pumpkin and Grandma look great, dontcha' think?!
This shot didn't turn out the way Sarah had hoped. It was supposed to look like their heads were sitting on in a row with the pumpkins.
Sarah picked a warty pumpkin to be different. Not sure how she will carve it though.
Dax is all smiles sitting in the wheelbarrow with his pumpkins
