No, we didn't really celebrate Easter in June. We celebrated in March like everybody else. Unfortunately, it's taken until June for me to blog about it. We had a great Easter beginning with an Spring photo session with these cute kids.
Of course, what would Easter be without coloring Easter Eggs? It donned on Sarah and I as we dyed eggs that we don't rely on colored eggs quite like we did when we were kids, prior to the plastic eggs introduction. It's just easier to use and hide plastic eggs rather than their authentic predecessors. With that said, we still appreciate tradition and dye a dozen eggs every year.
Dax likes looking for eggs, but he won't find any there. It doesn't stop him from checking.
Before hitting the sack, Leah made a St. Patrick's card and carrots for the Easter Bunny. Dax's first discovery Sunday morning was that the carrots had been eaten by the Easter Bunny.
With 9am church, looking for Easter baskets had to wait. We got dressed and sped off to church to celebrate the true reason we celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Christ, our Savior.
I know He lives. I know His death provided a way for me to live with Him again after death. I know his sacrifices in the tomb and the garden in Gethsemane paved a way for me to overcome death and sin and realize the full potential this life has to offer.
Happy Easter from the Trospers 2016
Silly Easter from the Trospers (except Dax) 2016!
After we got home from church we headed downstairs to look for Easter baskets.
In spite of it being an early Easter in March, it was a beautiful day. I miss the greener Easters that occur in April, but it was still a great day to have the family over for dinner and egg hunts.
Leah has been asking for a fishing pole for quite some time. The Easter Bunny obliged her desires. All morning, Leah practiced her casting, over and over again. She got pretty good.
Dax also got a fishing pole, but opted to play with his Tonka truck.
Sarah's whole family and my Mom came over for Easter Dinner. We had a bounteous meal with ham, cheesy potatoes, yams, broccoli, salad, deviled eggs, olives and these cute bunny rolls.
Then it was time for Easter egg hunting with the kids. I guess this is Emerson's "egg-cited" look.
The Reed boys are always excited to hunt for eggs. All the big kids do a good job to make sure Emerson and Dax get their fair share of eggs too. And the uncles and Aunts all enjoy hiding the eggs.
Leah found the money egg.
They all made out with a lot more eggs and candy than they needed. I'm grateful we are close with the Reeds so that these cousins can build memories together.
We hope everybody's Easter was as great as ours. You probably can't remember since so much time has passed.
