Happy Campers!

Some may argue that RVing isn't really camping at all.  I would agree somewhat.  It certainly isn't the same as pitching a tent, copping a squat or cooking in Mother Nature, but it is still camping...sort of.  Either way, we enjoy it and we try to squeeze in a few trips a Summer.  Here are a few photos of our Summer of 2018 trips.

We're always happy once we get the trailer hooked up and ready to go!

Our first trip of the year was to Jordanelle Reservoir in Utah.  It was a beautiful weekend and not too crowded.  The campsites were spacious and had great views in every direction.  We went with Jim and Sam who always spoil the kids and make great meals.  We had a blast.  We wish Mady and Hailey were there to enjoy it with us.

It's always good to camp with Jimmy and Sam as they always
make good food.

We love taking our bikes to ride around the campgrounds.

The only thing more beautiful than our surroundings is this little lady.

We need to get bikes with gears for campgrounds like this that tend to be more
hilly than those campground resorts we sometimes visit.

The kids (Sarah included) favorite thing and my least
favorite thing about camping is S'mores.  I love the activity,
but hate the messiness.

I rest my case.  And he hasn't even started yet!

Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Samantha took Leah fishing while Sarah, Dax and I visited the sandy
beach and enjoyed the water.

Uncle Jimmy says, "She's a natural!"

Safety first!  Life Jackets on, time to water!

After swimming, we were craving ice cream so we drove to the nearest place
we could find which ended up being a LaCrosse tournament outside Park City
20 minutes away.  We had shakes from a food truck.  We were all "lakey"
and dirty, but we didn't care.  It was nice to sit in the shade and suck down
a thick milkshake.

Dax's favorite part of camping might be the abandonment of rules such as
riding in the back of the truck from the camp to the lake.

Even though we're camping, we like to visit a local restaurant on every trip.  Especially in Summer when it's too hot to cook inside and out.  Whenever we're near Heber City, we hit Chick's Cafe.  A tradition we began when Jake and Erin introduced us to the place a couple years ago.

Leah is such a prankster with her rabbit ears.

Our next campout was to our old standby, Mountain Valley RV Resort.  It's more like glamping than camping.  All concrete and grass with A+ amenities.  We didn't take many pictures, but we were there for Sarah's 29th birthday so we decorated the trailer a little bit and celebrated with the Ashby's who came up to visit and swim with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH!!!!

The Ashbys are like family to us.  You may have heard me say it before, but
Brenda is like a second Mother.  Or maybe even a third Grandmother.

I'm not goofy, I'm completely normal.  Somebody told me that this picture makes
me look like Labowski.  I'm not Labowski.  I'm the dude!

Another regular place we visit whenever we can is Granny's Drive In.  They
have the best burgers, fries and shakes in Heber City.

My favorite part of Mountain Valley resort is the clean and new facilities, I can watch football during the season and the proximity to Heber City restaurants, hiking and our old cabin that we like to visit from time to time.  The kids favorite part of the place, hands down, is the heated pool.

Leah, mid flip off of my shoulders.

Dax ready for the launch.

This little man is my best buddy.

And she's my special girl.

Our third trip for the year was to Nephi Canyon to Big Mountain RV.  Again, we went with Jim, Sam and Mady.  It has the same amenities as Mountain Valley, but not as new and more dirt and grass as opposed to concrete, asphalt and grass.  We had a fun time and enjoyed exploring the Nebo Loop together.

As always excited and happy to get out on the road if camping is involved.

I blew out my flip flop.  Stepped on a pop top.  Cut my heel
had to cruise on back home.  Sarah ordered me a new pair on
the spot and I had my replacements waiting for me when we
returned home.  Not that I didn't have two other pairs.

Nebo Loop is a beautiful drive.

One of Leah's self portraits.  She hit her lip on the side of
pool coving.

Home Sweet Home.  She isn't the biggest or best, but she suits our purposes
perfectly.

Poor Mady had to keep a constant eye on the dogs.  She is the dog whisperer.

One of the many different geological landscapes of Nebo Loop.

Every tree was covered in these cocoon colonies of larvae.

This was a pretty tree that had the most unusual swirly and fuzzy seed/flower.  If
you know what kind of tree this is, please let me know.  A close up of the
swirly seed/flower is below.

Dax and Leah in Hell's Kitchen.

My beautiful traveling companion

Even on vacation, Sarah can't avoid the dishes.

Even while on vacation, the kids can't avoid their devices.

We took away devices from Dax for a period and he discovered how to make
us wish he had his device back.  He made fart noises in his arm for the next
hour or so.

The view from the pool.

Our final camping trip of 2018 was back to our base camp at Mountain Valley.  Jake, Erin and Reagan joined us  for the weekend in a cabin at the resort and Duane and the boys came up for a night of food and games.  We didn't get a lot of pictures, but we did snag a few when we went for a hike.

We usually split meals when we camp with others.  Here is
Jake grilling up some brats.  Of course, for breakfast we
went to Chick's with them.

We like to hike around Cascade Springs when we visit Mountain Valley.  It's a pretty area and the trails are not strenuous.  This visit to the Springs was delayed somewhat as we helped a young dude on a date who destroyed a tire on the road up and didn't know how to change a tire.  We stopped to help him, not knowing that his spare tire would also be flat so then it became a challenge to help him in any way we could to salvage his date and get him home.  Long and boring story later, we were able to get him in touch with his Dad and he was on his way when we finally got off on our hike.

Dax and Sarah.  We can't go anywhere outside without Dax
picking up a rock and/or a stick that he wants to take home.

Uncle Jake let Leah carry Reagan in the backpack for a while.  Brave Father.

Can it get better than this?

It seems Reagan has either learned from Dax to adopt a
stick or it's just a kid thing.

We finished our trip with the Wilsons with a trip to the creamery.  Yummy
ice cream and very cheesy grilled cheese sandwiches.

Dax being the annoying older boy cousin that he is to Reagan.  Don't worry,
Reagan can hold her own.  She likes to annoy the crap out of Dax too.  They
both have a lot of love for eachother too though, so you take the annoying with
the good.

We look forward to new trips in the new year.  If you don't get out in Mother Nature with your family, be it in tent, camper, motorhome or cabin, please do so.  You should not regret it.

Happy Camping!
